Cottage description

Welcome to Thatch End Cottage…….

Thatch End Cottage is a part-thatched cottage dating, in parts, back to the 17th Century, once being part of the nearby Chatsworth Estate. Despite its cottage appearance, it offers surprisingly spacious accommodation for up to 10 people (including occasional beds).

Having been in the same family from when it was originally purchased from Chatsworth, it has been sympathetically refurbished.

Wherever possible, original features have been exposed or reinstated which have been integrated with the needs of modern living.

Entrance to the property is off a private footpath, which leads to Chatsworth House (1 mile) A large Hallway has ample space for coats and shoes to be stored away from the living areas. Both reception rooms are front facing onto the path and river.

Off the hallway is a large Dining Room which has a log burner for those winter evenings. During the summer, the french doors give access to the enclosed garden. The dining room leads directly into the kitchen.

Thatch End Kitchen is small but perfectly formed. The open entrance to the Dining Room gives the chef opportunity for interaction with the diners, whilst keeping all of the mess away from the table! The kitchen is well equipped with a 5 ring gas hob, electric fan oven, dishwasher, microwave, washing machine and fridge freezer.

Downstairs W.C.

From the kitchen and the hallway there is access to spacious Lounge. This has a large fireplace ( currently decorative due to Thatched Roof above) TV (Freview channels) , DVD player and audio system.

Upstairs a landing gives access to:

Bedroom 2 is a bright and airy, dual aspect room, also overlooking the river. it has a double bed, wardrobe, drawer storage. There is also room for cot/small guest bed for families.

Bedroom 3 This is a smaller room offering sleeping accommodation for 3 in the form of a triple sleeper bunk- double on the bottom, single on the top. This cosy, practical room also has views over the river, and is ideal for a couple with a small child, children or groups who are looking for a cosy bed rather than the luxury that Bedrooms 1 and 2 offer.

Other amenities: Travel cot, high chair.
